Abu Dhabi or Father of gazelle is the fast growing capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It is as with Dubai one of the places known for its architectural stunning buildings and development structures. The Emirates Palace Hotel is a no-expense-spared monument and prime landmark that all tourists want to visit. Saadiyat Island is a planned offshore project that creates an island five hundred meters from Abu Dhabi's shores. Other sights are its lush green Capital Gardens, its stunning white Raha Beach and visits to Abu Dhabi Cultural Foundations, its prime dance and music center.
In the Arabian Gulf south and north of Abu Dhabi are many dive sites to be found, most a bit offshore, requiring longer boat rides and with visibilities that have been disappointing lately because of all the on and offshore constructions. Most diving is done at stranded ship wrecks in the past decades or at artificial reefs created to encourage coral growth. Although the region near Abu Dhabi is not primarily known for scuba diving it still offers some excellent shipwrecks offering lots of marine live and brilliant colorful night dives.
